Earlier this month the team here at the Archive completed our exhibition changeover, swapping the items in our display cases for each decade with new examples from the collection. From penny bazaar merchandise to today's innovative designs (and a 00s jumper that is particularly popular with the team here!) we like to keep things interesting and different for our visitors.
We are also delighted to unveil our new temporary 'Illustrated Archive' exhibition. On display for the first time is the set of twelve illustrations created by emerging artist, Annie Rickard Straus, as part of our 'Illustrated Archive' project.
This unique collection of illustrations was inspired by items from the M&S collection such as 1950s new look dresses, wartime rationing items, historic food packaging and images of the first M&S research and textile laboratory. They have also been compiled into a creative new illustrated book which can also be viewed in the exhibition. Annie's illustrations give an entirely fresh and new way of using the collection and you can read more about the artist on Annie's blog.
The Illustrated Archive exhibition will be on display until January 2015.
