These memories tell a unique story of M&S through the eyes of our customers and employees

My mum looks great in the 50s inspired 125 dress - now I know what she looked like when she was young!

My earliest memory of Marks & Sparks is going shopping with my mum and younger sister to buy new pants, socks and an outfit for Whitsuntide. On Whit Sunday we would dress in our new clothes and parade amongst family.

I worked for M&S in the early 1970's at St Albans store and retired 3 years ago. I remember the beauty contest put on and I was runner up in one of them. I also remember the fashion show travelling around the country and all the models were M&S staff.
    Mrs Lynda Ladbrook
Working for M&S selling menswear. I had some very strange converstations about mens underwear and what different people called them!
    Carolyn Taylor
Working at the Kilburn branch when all the food department sold was biscuits! The uniforms were made of nylon and in the summer were so hot, I fainted one day - much to my embarassment.

About 13 years ago I was unemployed and going nowhere, I was diagnosed with a mental health problem and then I did a placement in the Bromley Store for a few hours a week. They seemed to like me. I applied for a full time job and got the position. I have travelled to Europe. Marks & Spencer is great.

I remember holidays away with my parents. We got to see most of the country and visit all the local M&S stores! My mother, an employee, just couldn't resist taking a look for any "different lines" they might stock.
