Hints and tips on how to write your memories

  • You'll need to supply us with a Pen Name, the city that you live in (or that your memory relates to) and the decade that your memory relates to. If you choose to leave your contact details, these will only be used by the archive team to contact you about your memories, and will not be published, used for marketing purposes or passed on to third parties.
  • Memories are limited to 300 characters.
  • Do not use CAPITAL LETTERS apart from in normal punctuation.
  • Please ensure you comply completely with all the guidelines. M&S may edit words or phrases and any memory containing the smallest amount of unacceptable content will be rejected and not appear on the site.

Restrictions

To write a memory you have to be:

  • 18 years of age or older.

We cannot publish memories that contain:

  • Profanity, blasphemy, spiteful, racist, sexually explicit, sexually gratuitous comments.
  • Comments about other people who have left memories.
  • Content that may infringe upon the material, trademarks or intellectual property of others.
  • Content that might be considered to be harassment, abuse or threats against the personal safety or property of others.
  • Remarks that repeat criminal accusations.
  • False statements, defame or impersonate others.
  • Comments on Marks & Spencer's service, if you have comments on this please contact us directly.
  • Time sensitive material.
  • Spamming or advertising.
  • Third party brand names or trade marks.
  • Personal information about anyone, including yourself, such as phone numbers, postal addresses or credit card numbers.
  • HTML code, computer script or website urls.
  • Marks & Spencer suppliers or manufacturers.

If a memory is submitted that contains any of the above Marks & Spencer reserves the right to:

  • Not publish the memory.
  • Take any appropriate action if deemed necessary.

All memory copy becomes the property of Marks and Spencer plc once submitted and may be used in future publications. Your personal details will not be used or passed on to any third parties.
